The European Union was an AMERICAN idea...

You know reality often exceeds fiction... So here is a theme widely discussed in François Asselineau's famous conference: " Who REALLY governs France and Europe? " (below). However, to understand it, you have to watch more than 3 hours of video... Also when I saw this article this morning (that some Americans are not rotten), I couldn't help but translate it for you, to have it for future reference in our famous "additional information" at the bottom of the article; )))))))))

So share and circulate!

The European Union was an AMERICAN idea…

A united Europe: Born in the USA

Former Bank of England chief Mervyn King dit this week that the "depression" in Europe "came almost as a deliberate political act". Specifically, King said that the formation of the European Union condemned Europe to economic malaise.

He points out that Greece is experiencing "a deeper depression than the United States experienced in the 1930s".

Furthermore - like Martin Armstrong, he has warned for decades – letting countries like Greece join the Euro without first structurally adjusting their debts was a recipe for disaster.

So, it is fascinating to learn that the United States was largely behind the creation of both the European Union and the euro.

The European Union: Funded by the CIA

Professor of international security at the University of Warwick Richard J. Aldrich has reviewed the available historical documents, and concludes that the European Union was in largely an American project :

American authorities attempting to rebuild and stabilize post-war Europe worked on the assumption that rapid unification was needed, which perhaps could lead to the United States of Europe. The encouragement of European unification, one of the most constant elements of Harry S. Truman's foreign policy, was even more strongly emphasized by his successor, General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Moreover, under both Truman and Eisenhower, American policymakers conceived of European unification not only as an end in itself, but also as a means to solving the German problem.

One of the most interesting US covert operations in post-war Europe was the financing of the European Movement. The European Movement is a front organization that was led by a prestigious and disparate group of organisations, urging rapid unification in Europe, concentrating their efforts on the Council of Europe, and counting on Winston Churchill, Paul-Henri Spaak , Konrad Adenauer, Léon Blum and Alcide de Gasperi, as well as its five honorary presidents.

***

The quiet injection of over three million dollars between 1949 and 1960 (mostly US government funds), was central to efforts to gain mass support for the Schuman Plan, the European Defense Community and a European Assembly of Sovereign Powers. This secret contribution never made less than half of the budget of the European Movement and, after 1952, probably two thirds.

***

The conduct of American assistance was conducted through the American Committee on United Europe (ACUE), headed by high-level figures from the American intelligence community. This body was organized in the early summer of 1948 by Allen Welsh Dulles, then he headed a committee to review the organization of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on behalf of the National Security Council (NSC), with William J. Donovan, former Chief of the War Office of Strategic Services (OSS) [predecessor of the CIA].

***

The International Organizations Division [a newly created branch of the CIA] was also involved in the fourth type of US covert operation – causing dissonance in satellite countries. This effort was channeled through the National Committee for a Free Europe, later known as the Free Europe Committee, which controlled Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty. Much of the work was done with the help of irascible exile groups under the Assembly of European Captive Nations (ANCE), which was coordinated by the new CIA station in Munich, and which also helped the groups of resistance in Eastern Europe.

***

ACUE, and its short-lived predecessor, are just two of many "American" and "Free" committees established in 1948 and 1949. Well-documented examples include the National Committee for a Free Europe (later the Free Europe Committee ) and the Free Asia Committee (later the Foundation for Asia). The Free Europe Committee, formed in 1948 by retired diplomat Joseph E. Grew at Kennan's request, worked closely with the CIA to maintain contact between exile groups in the West and the European bloc. 'East. Their campaign “to keep alive the hope of liberation in Eastern Europe” was publicly launched in 1949 by the recently retired American military governor in Germany, General Lucius D. Clay. “The initial composition included many senior government officials, such as former Deputy Secretary of State Adolphe Berle, Allen Dulles and ex-OSS personnel, such as Frederic R. Dolbeare. The Committee for a Free Europe was supposed to derive its resources from private subscriptions and various foundations, but in reality the majority of its funds came from the United States government through channels run by the CIA.

***

The United States persuaded Britain and France to allow exile groups to become associate members of the Council of Europe. A year later, the White House approved that the State Department consider accelerating these efforts. Outlining their proposals in a special policy paper titled "The Concept of Europe", where they admitted concern that the main propaganda effort in the East lacked the "positive qualities necessary to awaken nations" . Several studies have been made in an attempt to find a positive concept on the themes of “European unity” and “return to Europe” which could remedy this problem. Its “exclusively European” character ensured that it could not be dismissed as another maneuver of “American imperialism”.

***

Unification was officially a central feature of American policy - Congress had stipulated it as a condition of further Marshall Plan aid.

***

ACUE's work in continental Europe during the 1950s also increasingly focused on propaganda and mass action.

***

In 1951, the majority of ACUE's funds for Europe were employed on a new endeavor - a unity campaign among European youth. Between 1951 and 1956, the European Movement organized more than 2000 rallies and festivals on the continent, particularly in Germany, where they received assistance from the United States military. One of the added benefits of the deployment of US funds, on major youth programs, is that it helped conceal the extent to which the European Movement was dependent on US funds. In May 1952, Spaak decided that funds from American sources, which had already been used in the European Movement's regular budget, would henceforth be diverted for use in the "special budgets" used to support their growing range of new programs. This disguised source avoided any accusation of American dependence. Again, in November 1953, Baron Boel, the treasurer of the European Movement, explained that it was essential to avoid a situation, where opponents of European unity could accuse them of being an American creation. For this reason “American money, quite acceptable for European youth campaigns and certain restricted activities, could not be used for the normal functioning of the movement”. Thanks to the use of “special budgets”, large sums from American sources did not show up in the ordinary budget of the European Movement.

***

As early as 1949, at the request of Allen Dulles, the Ford Foundation cooperated with the CIA on a number of European programs. “In 1950, ACUE and the Ford Foundation coordinated their efforts to support federalism. Moreover, by the mid-1950s, the figures who led both visible and invisible American support were increasingly convergent. By 1953, both John J. McCloy and Shepard Stone, who had been instrumental in organizing important secret government funds for the European Youth Campaign, were all on the board of the Ford Foundation. McCloy was also a trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation. By 1955, McCloy had become president of the Ford Foundation, while serving as chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations. At the same time, the same circle, along with Retinger, McCloy, Allen Dulles, Harriman, David Rockefeller, Jackson and Bedell Smith were creating the Bilderberg Group, yet another organization that filled the gaps for a rapprochement between government , private and public organizations visible and invisible on both sides of the Atlantic.

***

Most of ACUE's funding came from the CIA.

***

Funds from the Mutual Security Agency [a US agency created by Congress] were also used to support the European Movement. Indeed, the Mutual Security Act of 1951 explicitly stated that its resources were to be used "to further encourage the economic and political federation of Europe".

A North American created the Euro

Ce guy - Robert Mundell - is the father of the euro :

Son Of A Bitch

Born in Canada, Mundell taught at the University of Chicago for 7 years, he has since taught at Columbia University and then in New York for over 42 years. *

But did Mundell create the euro to help Europe?

Not according to the Guardian, the Independent and BBC investigative journalist Greg Palast, who explained in his book the pic nic of the vultures:

Who gave birth to this cruel little bastard piece?

I called his father, Professor Robert Mundell. Mundell who is known as the father of the Euro. The Euro is often pointed to as the means to unite post-war Europeans together, emotionally and politically, and to give this united Europe the economic power to rival the American economy.

What a stupid thing !

The Euro was invented in New York, at Columbia University, by Professor Mundell, who created both the euro and the Thatcherite and Reaganist political movement "Side Economics Supply" or, as George Bush senior l precisely called 'voodoo economics', Reagan and Thatcherite voodoo and the euro are two sides of the same coin. (Ouch! Some puns hurt.)

Like the Iron Lady and President Gaga, the euro is inflexible. In other words, once you join the Euro, your nation can no longer fight recession using fiscal or monetary policy. This leaves “wage cuts, and fiscal constraints (job cuts and government benefits) as the only recourse to crises”. The Wall Street Journal happily explains the sale of government properties (privatizations).

Why the Euro, Professor Dr Mundell told me he was pissed off about local rules in Italy that didn't allow him to put his amenities where he wanted them in his villa there. “They have rules telling me that I cannot have a toilet in this room. Can you imagine it? »

I really couldn't. I don't have an Italian villa, so I can't really imagine the burden of the restriction of placing amenities.

The euro will eventually allow you to put your toilet where you want it.

He meant that the only way the government can create jobs is to fire people, cut benefits, and, most importantly, cut the rules and regulations that limit business.

He told me, “Without fiscal policy, the only way nations have to keep jobs is through the competitive reduction of business rules. Besides the location of the toilet bowl, he was talking about labor laws that raise the price of plumbers, environmental regulations, and, of course, taxes.

No, I don't do that. And I'm not saying that the Euro was imposed on the old continent just so that the professor could place his toilet in a place of maximum pleasure. The Euro is fashioned as an anti-regulatory straitjacket that would eliminate gallon-per-flush laws, restrictive banking regulations and all other government controls.

Now, does the destruction of Greece's sovereignty have any little over direction ?

As Palast thehighlighted in the Guardian:

The idea that the euro has “failed” is dangerously naïve. The euro is doing exactly what its progenitors – the wealthy 1% caste who adopted it – predicted and expected it to do.

***

For him, the euro was not intended to transform Europe into a powerful, unified economic unit. It was about Reagan and Thatcher.

***

And when the crisis comes, economically disarmed nations will be able to do nothing but destroy government regulation, wholesale, and privatize state industries en masse, cut taxes and send the European welfare state down the drain.

***

Far from failing, the euro, who was Mundell's baby, succeeded probably beyond his father's wildest dreams.

In other words, the euro was intended to impose a straitjacket of shock doctrines on Europe, where the big banks have stripped Greece and other countries of their public assets, and plundered them, their natural resources and their wealth.

Update: After writing this article, we came across an article written, in 2000, by the Telegraph's senior financial writer, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, noting :

“Declassified US government documents show that the US intelligence community waged a campaign in the XNUMXs and XNUMXs to build momentum for a united Europe. »

***

At the head of the Ford Foundation is ex-OSS officer Paul Hoffman, who was also the head of ACUE in the late 11s. The State Department also played a role. A note from the European section, dated June 1965, XNUMX, advises the Vice-President of the European Economic Community, Robert Marjolin, to pursue themonetary union by trickery.

He recommends to debate until the point where "the adoption of these proposals would have become practically unavoidable ».

* Mundell is Canadian. But having taught at American universities for more than 50 years, we treat him as an honorary American. In any event, he created the euro entirely at Columbia. Anyway, what is striking is that it was a North American – and not a European – who created the eurozone currency.
