Google Cars case: there would have been "intention" in the collection of data

A priori, the case of Google Cars which collect private data on unsecured WiFi networks does not get off to a good start for the Internet giant.

Privacy International, an NGO that works to protect privacy, has put its nose in the first results of the independent audit commissioned by Google to a specialist in digital forensics, Stroz Friedberg. Audit which obviously follows the wild collection of 600 GB of data by Google cars. And the NGO says that this investigation would confirm that there was a "intention" on the part of Google in the collection of this data. Which, by extension, means that legal proceedings against Google may be initiated, and they are likely in many countries concerned, in particular in Germany. Google Cars having, since 2006, traveled far and wide and across around thirty countries to supply its service Street view.

"Google's independent system audit shows that the system used for WiFi harvesting intentionally separated unencrypted content from communications and systematically copied that data to hard drives. This is equivalent to tapping a phone without authorization"explains Privacy International. Remember that in France, the Cnil has opened an investigation while investigations are also underway in Spain, Australia and Canada. American states are also in discussion on this subject with Google.
