Twelve candidates and then that's it. THE National Front Although it is the leading party in the Vaucluse, in terms of national elections, it is struggling to transform its supporters into activists for the local elections where only twelve heads of lists are currently supported for the municipal elections next March. In Vaucluse, Marine Le Pen nevertheless achieved his best vote in a French department (27,03%) during the presidential elections in 2012, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen was elected deputy there, in Carpentras, just like the mayor of Orange Jacques Bompard supported by the Rassemblement Bleu Marine (RBM)… However, the very low number of supported list heads reflects a real local difficulty for the FN.
“We are still suffering the effects of the demonization of the party. People dare not engage. But things will change”, wants to believe Hervé de Lepinau, member of the Ligue du Midi, RBM candidate in Carpentras and deputy of Marion Maréchal-Le Pen. Even in the prefectures, the FN is struggling. Thus, in Avignon, the National Front invests a man, Philippe Lottiaux who does not really know the City of the Popes. At 47, this former member of the UMP, former director general of the services of the city of Levallois-Perret, defines himself as "a parachuted person with no real ties to Vaucluse but with the desire to (s) invest in the long term in this territory.”
The Europeans, a “historic chance”
And it is undoubtedly for all these reasons that during a meeting on Saturday afternoon, in Mazan, on the outskirts of Carpentras, Marine Le Pen did not insist too much on the municipal issue, even if most candidates supported for these elections were behind her. The president of the FN further urged the 600 people present to “move (to the polls) so that the National Front comes out on top in the European elections” next May.
Earlier, at a press conference, Marine Le Pen had already insisted on "this perhaps historic chance to launch the signal to break with the economic model which has been defended by the UMPS." And the frontist leader to reformulate a wish already expressed several times: that from the result of these elections "a real great political upheaval emerges, why not a dissolution of the National Assembly."
