That too is a big sea serpent, if they hadn't scuttled the system by freezing wages and lowering contributions, we would not be there...

The French are aware that it is necessary to work longer to preserve the pay-as-you-go system. But they don't want to leave too late either.
The majority of French people want to retire before age 62, even if they are aware that they will have to work beyond that, shows a study by the ICMA Group institute for the Randstad human resources group published on Monday.
According to the results of this survey, 54% of those questioned want to leave between the ages of 60 and 62 and a large majority (84,2%) do not want to work beyond the age of 62.
However, less than a quarter of them (23,4%) believe that they will actually be able to retire between the ages of 60 and 62.
Most (71,7%) believe they will have to work after age 62.
Nearly a third of French people (29,5%) even believe that they will have to continue their activity beyond the age of 65.
Finally, 74,3% of women think they will have to work until the age of 63 and over, compared to only 69% of men.
This study was conducted online with a panel of 6000 people aged 18 to 65, representative of the French population, in November 2013.
