About Jacques Cheminade: Solidarity and Progress - Lyndon LaRouche

It should be noted that, for his presidential mandate, Jacques Cheminade is no longer president of Solidarité & Progrès. We must not throw the baby out with the bathwater, but information must be honest, everyone will have their own opinion. Count on us to question him about his ties to Lyndon LaRouche...; )

A wonderful example of marketing action

15th January 2005

LYNDON LAROUCHE, CHEMINADE, SOLIDARITY AND PROGRESS.

Let me tell you an anecdote that happened to me, just yesterday, while I was visiting a client.

At a light, a man passes among the cars with a pile of newspapers and a cardboard around his neck displaying a caricature of Bush as we see a lot among anti-globalization activists.

I don't know if it's the representation of Bush or the headline of the newspaper: "European Constitution: for us it's no!" which made me open my window, but the fact is that I found myself taking the newspaper in question. The deal was simple: "Sir, I'll give you my diary and call you once you've read it to find out what you think" and here I am giving my mobile number….

Don't laugh, this is a magnificent example of marketing action and you will understand me better.

I am naturally curious about political movements and as my position on the question of the European constitution is far from being as clear-cut as at the PS, I glean information. Basically, I'm like many people who have flown over a lot of question of the constitution and who are not convinced…. I am therefore a niche marketer receptive to this type of campaign and those who do this distribution know it.

I have read the entire 8 pages of this journal and I can tell you, despite what I will say later, that it is an example of perfect deciphering of a community, a model of marketing manipulation of a socio-intellectual category to study in business schools.

In addition to the catchy title, the demonstration which is contiguous to it is clear, limpid and tinged with all the small references which titillate the reader of the extreme left. There are articles on the future constitution and very successful explanations. After this demonstration, comes a text on the budgets allocated to the mayors of France, denouncing the strong disparity which exists between the cities then a series of writings on Palestine where the death of Yasser Arafat is described as a turning point in history.

In short, these are subjects that are bound to arouse the interest of anyone who is even slightly politically engaged on the left.

Where things go wrong is when we come across a great text by a certain Lyndon LaRouche who calls for resistance to the Bush administration. Once again, the content leaves no doubt about the political orientation of the man. He presents himself as a fervent democrat, comfortable in his world and comfortable in his party. However, a few terms raise awareness, notably a rather obscure passage on the Sublime. This notion remains vague, almost implicitly, and is never clearly explained but only requires that.

Even if it means repeating myself, I would like to add that the overall content is always of high quality, to the point where we forget that these journalists are completely unknown.

Then comes a last text. In the form of a travel report, a young French larouchist explains her stay in the United States within the American community. She spent about ten days with them, participated in all the anti-Bush actions carried out by the local cell, slept together, and, she slips us, "we were able to participate in the preparation of the presentations of the young people on the music, light, the chain, our economic projects, the creation of a city on Mars or the NAWAPA project (large water development project from Alaska to Mexico ".

We are swimming in delirium

But again, anyone who has gone to the end of the reading does not necessarily notice this "controlled skid" which appears in the last lines of the log.

Let's reason: if I don't agree with the content of the diary, I won't go to the end. If I find the content interesting, this article a little gnangnan, will appear to me as ridiculous and from the first lines, I will skim it. But if I find the whole theory fascinating then this passage will not shock me and may even arouse an interest.

Back to work, I surfed a little on the net and asked Gogole to find me articles on Lyndon LaRouche, the newspaper "New Solidarity" or even the official French political branch of this movement, namely "solidarity and progress".

The news is weak, the points of view are not very committed, the articles are very few outside the official sites of the movement.

It is by going to look further in the pages that we find an article by Libé, a message on the forum of Le Monde, an article from an American newspaper, a book dedicated to this character or even a Tunisian site which reveal the true personality of Lyndon LaRouche.

I leave you here some anthologies of the great humanist that is LaRouche

"According to Lyndon" the main source of impotence, both in men and women, always comes from the mother", but even worse "the degradation of morals came from the fact that the female organs were placed near the anus and that this caused women to confuse sex with excrement"….

…"Can you imagine anyone more viciously sadistic than a black ghetto mother"…

… As for the Chinese, LaRouche explains: “they approach the lowest animal species by manifesting a paranoid personality”.

… According to LaRouche “only 1,5 million Jews would have perished in the Nazi camps.

"Smash the Kosher nostra", "let's sweep the kosher nostra" is an illustrious pun by Lyndon. …

And I'll spare you the statements on homosexuality and AIDS. The troubled personality of this political guru is decried.

Sometimes accused of anti-Semitism, sometimes accused of racism, a great follower of conspiracy theory in all its forms, he remains no less dangerous.

And since J. Cheminade allows himself to represent this man and this movement in France, I put him in the same basket.

I haven't had the phone call from the newspaper distributor yet, but I'll keep you informed. I don't want to play Don Quixote, Zorro or lesson givers, but if I found myself reading this newspaper it's because I was taken in by this hook...

In conclusion, one could say that it is not because the discourse is tempting that one does not hang around in one of the most nauseating environments there is.

The strength of these people is the illusion, the perfect mirage of a dream of bright tomorrows.

Lyndon LaRouche

Born in 1922, Lyndon LaRouche began his political activity in 1947 when he joined the SWP (Socialist Workers Party), the main Trotskyist group in the United States. In 1965, he left this party to join a small Trotskyist group (American Committee for the Fourth International). Tim Wohlforth saw the beginning of Lyndon LaRouche's sectarian behavior in 1968. He was then very active during the Columbia University strikes and founded the National Caucus of Labor Committees (NCLC), affiliated with the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS).

In 1973, he radicalized his movement, after having cut his ties with the SDS, and tried to seize power on the left, going as far as the use of physical violence, during Operation Mop-Up2 . In 1976, he ran for president under the label of the US Labor Party and in 1984, he created the Schiller Institute, with the help of his wife Helga-Zepp LaRouche, a German. In 1987, Lyndon LaRouche was tried in Boston court for a fraud presumed. Trial canceled due to excessively long procedural delays. A second trial, in Virginia, in 1989, for financial fraud and tax evasion, sentenced him to 15 years in prison. He was released 5 years later. Since then, he has run regularly for the Democratic nomination for the US presidential elections, trying to gain recognition as a member of the Democratic Party.

In France, Jacques Cheminade, leader of Solidarity and Progress and representative of Lyndon LaRouche, ran for president in 1995. Not having obtained the necessary 500 signatures, he was unable to renew the experience in 2002. He has, moreover, already been sentenced on several occasions ': in 1992 he was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence for fraud (in January 1996 the 13th chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal reduced this sentence), in October 2004 the Lyon Criminal Court sentenced him to a fine of 15000 Euros for public defamation. This judgment was confirmed in February 2005 by the Lyon Court of Appeal (Jacques Cheminade would have planned to appeal to the Court of Cassation).

Features

Although we can find in the basic militant of a political party characteristics of commitment, of very strong enthusiasm, certain specificities of the movement of Lyndon LaRouche make it possible to differentiate it from a traditional political party:

  • Personality cult : Lyndon LaRouche is, so to speak, the "Great Man", whose images and writings flood Larouchist sites.
  • Elitism : the members of the movement are the "Golden Souls" of Lyndon LaRouche.
  • Demonization from the outside : family, friends, and all who attack Lyndon LaRouche.
  • Control over the individual : she is very strong, the personality change of a new member is very fast. His family no longer recognizes him and has trouble communicating with him.
  • Conspiracy theory : LaRouche's business, marked by incessant attacks against the great British bankers, a certain number of Jewish personalities, the American administration, etc.
  • Method of recruitment : proselytism based on seduction ("You have all the abilities to improve the world") and the feeling of guilt of the people approached ("If you don't come with us, that means you don't want to do anything to improve the world").
  • daily occupations : every day, the member convinces himself of the merits and high value of Larouchist ideas, simply by practicing his proselytizing approach. The intellectual occupation is permanent, 12 to 15 hours a day, even on weekends.
  • Lifestyle : members are grouped in apartments, hence easier control.

On reading these elements, the coercive aspect of this movement is clear.

LaRouche's use of culture

Lyndon LaRouche has always had a keen interest in culture and science. The Schiller Institute is the cultural arm of the movement. "Fidelio"And"21st Century Science & Technology", are larouchist publications. As well as "Fusion" French journal sold on newsstands in the science section.

2004 saw the release of their pamphlet "Children of Satan 1113", in which LaRouche attacks the Congress for Cultural Freedom.

What follows is an attempt to update Lyndon LaRouche's use of culture as a widely used internal propaganda tool.

The cult of personality

Reading the writings of Lyndon LaRouche, one cannot deny the deep culture of the individual, even if his interpretation of historical/scientific/cultural facts could certainly be the subject of expert criticism. Everything is organized around Lyn. In articles written by his collaborators, the reference is always Lyn, what he said, wrote or did.

Lyndon LaRouche is a great communicator. In 2003, the Schiller Institute organized 8 conferences or executive schools in the United States, and 6 in 2004. To these should be added those given in Europe and elsewhere. Lyndon LaRouche spoke at length in each of these conferences. The character's oversized ego comes to light in this excerpt from his article "Insanity as Geometry: Rumsfeld as Stangelove II" where he explains that today's society needs an exceptional political, scientific or artistic leader and that he sees himself obliged to play this role.

The site of the young larouchists is a privileged place of propaganda. The "Classics" page references authors, artists, writers, scientists of past centuries, with a number of their writings, alongside Lyndon LaRouche, thus presenting him as a great man having his place alongside illustrious figures. . Moreover, his internal biography presents him as an economist of international renown.

The use of music as an instrument for recruiting young larouchists

In the movement of young larouchists, the use of music is permanent, through choirs. The purpose of learning songs is to use them later in the street to attract the attention of passers-by. These songs are also the occasion of presentations during their numerous conferences.

These choirs are also a means of anchoring the individual in a united group around a certain number of values, giving him the feeling of being important, of being part of an elite. Making young larouchists feel important is one of the means of seduction used to attract them to the movement.

Manichean cultural choices

Lyndon LaRouche rejects a number of art forms. Anything less than "classical" is considered degenerate art, reminiscent of a discourse abundantly produced under totalitarian regimes. A small number of composers find favor in the eyes of Lyndon LaRouche, such as Beethoven, J.-S. Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Verdi for example. Baroque composers, contemporaries, among others, impressionist or fauvist painters are rejected.

Beethoven holds a special place in the mind of Lyndon LaRouche. Indeed, according to Dennis Tourish and Tim Wohlforth, he used, in the 70s, the music of this composer to "deprogram" a member, Alice Weitzman, whom he thought was a CIA agent, by keeping her captive and by making him listen to the music of this composer at high volumes.

The Larouchist pamphlet "Children of Satan-11f" clearly shows the virulence with which contemporary painters, composers or writers are rejected. Very harsh words come from the pen or the mouth of the "larouchiste" Jeffrey Steinberg when he speaks of it ("hideous noise" to describe an extract from Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring").

Young members see their cultural choices being restricted. The "good" cultural choices come from above.

The rejection of Jewish artists

With the global Jewish conspiracy being Lyndon LaRouche's stock in trade, it's no wonder that Jewish artists are stigmatized in his writings. When we examine them, we quickly realize that his attacks on political or artistic personalities are mostly aimed at Jewish personalities (for example, the American neo-conservatives Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, or H. Kissinger). Similarly, Jewish artists are stigmatized. "The Congress for the Freedom of Culture" including a certain number of Jewish artists, it is not surprising that this institution was the target of the larouchists.

Lyndon LaRouche even rejects the idea of a Jewish culture. As he wrote in 1973, in the file "The case of Ludwig Feuerbach", included in the Larouchist magazine "Campaigner": there is no autonomous Jewish culture but only a particular variety of Christian culture.

Again, this is just one example among many.

Sectarian strategy

1. LaRouche is presented as the great thinker-philosopher-politician-economist-musicologist of the century, and he is compared with indisputable personalities, Martin Luther King, Theodore Roosevelt, etc.

2. The "great man" announces an unprecedented economic cataclysm, but he has The solution.

3. His infallibility is presented to young members thus: "LaRouche was never wrong."

4. Larouchist sites are flooded with the writings of the "great man" to give the illusion of the immense importance of the individual. The young larouchiste believes that all this communication is made for the entire planet, because that is what a "great man" deserves: the dissemination of his ideas. This is what he is asked to do every day in the street.

5. The young larouchists have only one horizon left: LaRouche. Everything that is external is demonized, in particular relatives and friends, as well as all artistic, scientific, political ideas which would not have received the "LaRouche" stamp.
