On June 13 and 14, Lyon will be the scene of several simulations of terrorist attacks. A large-scale exercise which will mobilize several emergency and law enforcement services and involve several European countries. confirming information of "20 Minutes", the Rhône police headquarters specifies that the exercise foresees hundreds of injuries and dozens of victims, without giving more details, reserving the official announcement of this event for the press conference which will take place June 4.
The "CBRN type" security exercise (nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical) is "organized by the prefecture and the Rhône emergency and fire service" and "must allow 'in the current international context, to test and strengthen the means to fight against terrorism', reports "20 Minutes" which quotes a source familiar with the matter.
Test devices
It will be a question of "testing the responsiveness of the relief and intervention plans planned in the event of terrorist attacks". The exercises will be carried out during the day, in real conditions. “20 Minutes” details the scenario: “On June 12, a major attack in the metro, causing several potential victims, should in particular lead to the interruption of traffic on line B and disrupt car traffic in the Gerland district. on the evening of June 13, three other attacks will be organized in Greater Lyon.
Interior Minister Manuel Valls and ministers from neighboring countries, such as Germany, Spain, Italy and Belgium, will follow the operations on site.
