At the end of their tether, hospital staff mobilized again (L'Express)

Indeed, as happened to me two months ago, it would be good for Agnès Buzyn to do a short one-day or one-night internship in the emergency room of a hospital. She would thus see to what extent they operate in tight flows, and do not have enough staff. The recent deaths in the emergency services of certain hospitals do not seem to alarm him, so if the French are not in solidarity with the emergency workers, we are heading straight for disaster. I spent 9 hours in the emergency room before being taken care of for my transfusion. And I can tell you that they were not unemployed, the stress there is also incredible. You have people coming in with pathologies, possibly viral and contagious, that you don't know anything about except that they're on the verge of death, strokes, accidents, and amazing stuff, and ALL the time.

In short, support them...

A mobilization in public hospitals is planned for Tuesday at the call of four unions, against a backdrop of crisis in the emergency room.

Hospital staff have been on strike for three months now to try to make themselves heard by the government, against a backdrop of the emergency room crisis. While the Senate must adopt this Tuesday, after the National Assembly, the Health bill carried by Agnès Buzyn, the health federations of the CGT, FO, SUD and CFE-CGC unions have called for "a day of mobilization and strike national" this June 11 to obtain an increase in staff and wages. Demonstrations are thus planned in the regions and in Paris, in front of the Ministry of Health, at 11 a.m. The strike must also affect retirement homes.

Last Thursday, the Inter-Urgences collective, which brings together a hundred emergency services across France, invited "at the end of the line" emergency workers from all over France to participate in their first national mobilization. Between 500 and a thousand people working in the sector had responded to this call to demand salary increases of 300 euros net per month, increases in staff or even the securing of premises. On that day, discussions with the Ministry of Health did not, however, lead to no "satisfactory response" for the collective.

"Do not despair"

This Tuesday, in the columns of Le Parisien, a spokesperson for Inter-Urgences invited "Agnès Buzyn to come and spend a night or a day in the emergency room so that she realizes our working conditions", launching: "We are all exhausted, physically and psychologically "We are faced with different pathologies. Problems with sleep, stress, back pain. For example, I have medication to fight hypertension and insomnia."

The day before, Agnès Buzyn tried to respond to the claims of hospital staff on BFM TV. But she did not bend on any point. The Minister recalled that "a risk bonus as well as a cooperation bonus" was awarded "to paramedics in the emergency services".

Nevertheless, she dismissed the idea of a new salary increase for carers, indicating: "I understand that this is recognition. But when the concern is purely salary when it is dysfunctional, (...) sincerely the problems aren't going to settle because I'm paying more."

Agnès Buzyn then declared to the nursing staff: "Do not despair, everything has been done since I arrived to improve our system and ensure that it is better organized", announcing that a "rehabilitation of the premises too old" would be engaged.
