I take this opportunity to remind you that their harmfulness has been recently proven, and that we had seen on occasion that more than 1000 active substances have been placed on the market over the past 60 years in France. Moreover, it is the leading European user of “phytosanitary” products, with more than 300 substances currently on the market. 90% of the 60.000 tons of pesticides sprayed each year are used by the agricultural sector. While the Ecophyto plan, launched in 2008, announced an ambition to reduce pesticides by 50% in 10 years, the volumes consumed increased between 2009 and 2011!
And if there had only pesticides...
Moreover, precisely, this water is brought to us in beautiful pipes in toxic pvc... brand new... :(
Then you will understand the urgency of doing in addition to the exploitation of shale gas and oil
Frankly I asks me on the purpose of these policies... :(
For the General Commissariat for Sustainable Development, contamination by pesticides is “almost generalized”. In 35% of cases, the water is even deemed “unfit for human consumption”.

Pesticide contamination of waterways in France is “almost generalized”, the major agricultural or wine-growing regions of the Paris basin, north and south-west being the most affected, indicates the General Commission for Sustainable Development. "The contamination of waterways is almost generalized in France, mainly by herbicides in mainland France and insecticides in Overseas", writes the Commissariat in a note "indicators and indices" dated July 22 and available on the website of the Ministry of Ecology .
The areas most affected are the major cereal, market gardening or wine-growing regions of northern France, the Paris Basin, the South-West, upstream of the Rhône and Martinique. “Only 7% of points are exempt. They are mainly located in regions with little agriculture or low-intensity agriculture, “i.e. the south-eastern quarter of France and Auvergne, writes the Commissariat.

In 2011, of the 176 hydrographic sectors (geographical division by river catchment areas) monitored in metropolitan France, 63 had an average annual concentration greater than 0,5 micrograms per liter, i.e. the threshold beyond which water is considered " unfit for human consumption”. In Overseas France, seven out of 12 sectors exceeded this threshold.
More than 20 different pesticides
In major crop areas such as the Paris Basin, the South-West and the North of France, certain sectors exceed 5 micrograms per liter, the threshold beyond which the water is "unsuitable for the production of drinking water". . More than 20 different pesticides were detected at 18% of the measurement points, specifies the Office of the Commissioner.
Underground aquifers seem to be less contaminated than rivers, and in 2011, four of all 176 aquifers monitored had a total concentration greater than 0,5 micrograms, in particular the Beauce aquifer (Paris region) or in the Vaucluse.
Apart from the aquifers under clay or mountain cover which are the most preserved, "the rest of the territory shows a generalized contamination of the aquifers, even if it remains mainly low with concentrations lower than 0,1 microgram per litre", writes the Commissariat General for Sustainable Development. The situation is much worse in Overseas France and in particular in Martinique where 70% of the water tables exceeded the 0,5 microgram threshold.
