Here are some figures published during week 38, 2013. We will see that the news is indeed “rich” in figures that speak for themselves.
So I give you some data published this week:
Wednesday September 11: We learn by ACOSS that salary medium in France in the second quarter of 2013 is 2438 euros.

Thursday 12 September: INSEE informs us that
- the threshold of poverty, which corresponds to 60% of the median standard of living of the population, stands at 977 euros monthlys in 2011.
- poverty continues to increase, but more moderately than in 2010.
- poverty is about 8,7 million people who live below the threshold monetary poverty, which amounts to 977 euros per month, half of them live on less than 790 euros per month.
- poverty affects 14,3% of the population, compared to 14,0% in 2010.
- poverty increases more among the unemployed and young people aged 18-29.
Friday, September 13: Les Echos informs us that
- the companies of CAC 40 will release, cumulatively, a profit of 80,6 billion euros in 2013 (estimated) up 16%, compared to 69,4 billion in 2012
- these same companies will redistribute in 2014 some 39,9 billion in dividends to their shareholders.(estimate) against 37,8 billion in 2013.

These few very evocative figures make me think of whiners who come to complain about paying taxes en increase thinking only of themselves, relayed in this by a press eager for big headlines, scoop or buzz without ever calling back the cause of all these increases.
On the other hand, the fact that there is 8,7 million poor in France and that this figure is progressing inexorably from year to year obviously does not interest any editor of the paper or online press, talking about the poor and destitute probably does not attract the reader or the Internet user.
I will conclude this post with a simple observation, it is clear that 2 or 3 worlds co-exist in our country, this is obviously not a discovery but the figures of the week bring us further confirmation.
Bonus, the INSEE note:
