The good news of the day, despite the Madrid dictatorship, the ballot took place, and even if it is only a consultation, I think the signal is strong enough. short with UK, one more breach in the hull of the Titanic Europe...; )))

Some 80,7% of those who participated to the symbolic vote on independence organized Sunday in Catalonia voted in favor of it, ie 1,6 million votes, according to provisional results released by the Catalan executive.

These results released after counting 88,4% of the ballots indicate that 1.649.239 people voted "Yes" twice to the questions “Do you want Catalonia to be a state? And if "yes, do you want it to be independent?", announced Joana Ortega, Vice President of the Executive. According to her, at least two million people took part in the consultation.

Vote of supporters

These results are however to be interpreted with caution, the opponents of independence having announced that they would boycott the election. It was therefore mainly supporters of the independence cause who went to the polling stations in the powerful region of northeastern Spain, with 7,5 million inhabitants.

According to these results, 10,1% of the participants still voted “no” to the second question, 0,98% voted blank and 4,55% voted no to both. Some 5,4 million Catalans could in theory participate in this consultation open to young people from the age of 16 and also to foreigners residing in Catalonia. Catalans abroad - New York, Sidney, Paris... - could also go to voting centers.

By organizing the ballot, Artur Mas, the Catalan president, overruled two decisions of the constitutional court which suspended the vote at the request of Madrid. The Spanish government believes that only all Spaniards have the right to decide on the future of Catalonia.
