Only 17% of French people agree with François Hollande's assertion that France is "doing better" and a large majority of them (78%) fear, on the contrary, a "social explosion", according to an Elabe poll released THURSDAY.
"Yes, it's better," said the head of state during his televised intervention on April 15. But 83% of respondents disagree with this statement.
If 40% of left-wing sympathizers approve of François Hollande's remarks, only 8% of those close to the right are of this opinion, according to this survey on the social climate for BFMTV.
Nearly eight out of ten French people (78%) believe, however, that there is today in France "a high risk" of "social explosion", against 22% for whom this risk is "low".
This risk of social crisis “with a multiplication of social conflicts or even a blockage of the country” is real for 64% of those close to the left and 84% of those on the right.
Finally, only 28% of those questioned trust the trade unions to defend their interests, against 72% of a contrary opinion. Among employees alone, confidence in unions climbs to 34%, but 66% of them do not trust them.
Survey conducted online on April 26 and 27, with a sample of 1000 people aged 18 and over, using the quota method.
