70 blogs from the Blogetery service closed in the United States

There you have it, the expression of democracy in full light. Blogs, you know those little islands of uncontrollable freedoms, as Rauss now says in the USA!

The Wordpress-based platform Blogetery has just seen its entire community closed by its host, BurstNET, which announced in an official press release that this suspension had been carried out following a request from the equivalent of a bailiff's office .

Blogetery was shut down at the request of law enforcement officials, due to content hosted on the server. We are limited in the details we can provide, but it should be noted that this was a critical issue, and the only option available to us was to immediately disable the server.

According to initial indications from
the case talk page, a case of intellectual property infringement would have been the motivation for this closure. But Blogetery has never had to undergo legal procedures of this type, as Bittorrent link search services can experience for example, the closure remains strange for many users. The owner of the Blogetery service specifies: “ I received letters from rights holders for removal of pages with torrent/rapidshare links. I have always taken these abuse reports into account within 24 hours, and removed the offending content. »

According to BurstNET, however, this is not a trivial case, for which suspension and notification would have been sufficient. A spokesperson has since denied the case of intellectual property infringement. A representative of the host simply indicated that he could not " give him his data, or reveal the slightest detail. By saying that, everyone can realize that there is something serious down there... This is the last post we will post on the subject. »

For the time being, the facts are there: 70 people have had their blogs deleted, the agency that called for this closure has not been identified, and the possible breaches of the law have not been defined. It remains to wait for a possible statement from the agency in question, to clarify the matter.
