So will the government take into account the opinion of the population?

"The level of support for this project (29% of French people) is close to that measured for social VAT, notes Ifop, which carried out the survey."
A large majority of French people say they are opposed to an increase in the CSG to compensate for a gradual reduction in payroll taxes paid by companies, according to a survey Ifop for "South West Sunday", to be published on Sunday, October 7.
A total of 70% of those polled (including 62% of left-wing supporters, 78% of right-wing supporters and 81% of FN supporters) declared themselves opposed to lower labor costs, in order to promote employment and the competitiveness of French companies, which would be offset by an increase in the CSG paid by the French on their salaries, their pensions and their financial income.
“Sociologically speaking, all categories are mostly resistant to this increase in the CSG (…) but the rejection is more marked among workers (77% opposed) than among senior executives and the liberal professions (61%) ", emphasizes theIfop.
Social VAT also rejected
The polling institute also notes that "the level of support for this project (29% of French people) is close to that measured concerning social VAT (...) project which was also intended to allow a reduction in the cost labor compensated by an increase in household levies via VAT (32% in January 2012)", recalls Ifop.
"The nature of political support has been reversed", indicates Ifop, noting that "partisan reflexes structure positions".
"When 69% of UMP supporters were in favor of the social VAT project carried by Nicolas Sarkozy last January, they are now only 21% to approve a possible increase in the CSG to compensate for the drop in employers' charges. This measure, on the other hand, is now supported by 42% of those close to the PS, whereas only 16% were in favor of social VAT”, underlines the study.
