Edward Snowden allegedly leaked a new "top secret" NSA document according to Dutch media NRC.

According to a document revealed by Edward Snowden, the NSA would have hacked the data of more than 50.000 computer networks around the world.

Edward Snowden strikes again. According to a new document, - a presentation slide (see below) that he allegedly gave to the Dutch daily NRC and picked up by ZdNet-, the NSA would have infected some 50.000 computer networks in the world thanks to malicious software.

Malware designed to steal sensitive data

This slide is from 2012 and shows a world map showing the different access points for "operation of computer networks" (Computer Network Exploitation - CNE).

For the NRC newspaper, the malware was "designed to allow the theft of sensitive information“, continues the site. It also notes thatan NSA page refers to the CNE as being a "set of techniques allowing the collection of intelligence and actions via computer networks that exploit data recovered from a target or enemy information systems'".

CNE or GNE?

According to ZdNet, this revelation "puts the Washington Post article in a different light, last august, which related the existence of a team of high-flying hackers within the NSA. We talked about TAO, the name of the team (Tailored Access Operations), and a certain "GNE".

The TAO team is said to have carried out "more than 54 Global Network Exploitation (GNE) operations in support of the needs of national intelligence agencies". Only one letter changes, but the most likely remains that CNE is the correct name, since it is present on the NSA site, concludes the site.
