2,30 €uros, the price of a hacked credit card on the BlackMarket

I often talk to you about phishing kit well Damien Bancal gives us here an excellent article, where we learn that a kit of Trojan Zeus costs from 3000$ to 4000$ of investment in the BlackMarket, which are quickly profitable. A credit card is not worth much either since it is negotiated at €2,30. Do not open any mail and monitor your machine.

RSA, the security division of EMC reveals, in its latest report on the fraud online, the prices at which are sold information stolen by cybercriminals. 2,30 euros, the cost of a coffee: this is the price to pay to obtain data de credit card and other personal information on online fraud forums, according to RSA's latest Monthly Online Fraud Report. This report reveals the average price at which goods and services are currently sold on the black market (BlackMarket).

On the "underground" forums, stolen personal data is offered for sale and accompanied by a multitude of tools and services that allow other cybercriminals to take advantage of these informations. These services and tools range from fraudulent "call center" type services to phishing infection kits[1] and Trojans[2]. Forums that ZATAZ.COM has been presenting for 15 years.

While the sale of stolen data and cybercriminal tools and services is not new, the growing number of "underground" forums and their ease of access should be taken into account. Greg Singh, engineering manager at RSA, the security division of EMC, believes that the development of this "underground" market represents a very serious threat to consumers and businesses. “There are a myriad of such forums operating around the world that trade data for a cost that may seem marginal to some, but potentially represents large losses for consumers, banks and credit card associations. ” specifies Greg Singh.

“In fact, various fraud products and services are sold on the black market for less than €40: they can be the source of losses of thousands of euros and have worse consequences for the consumer, because who can put a label of price on invasion of privacy?” He adds.

Below are the prices at which goods and services are currently being sold on this black market, according to information revealed in RSA's August Online Fraud Report. As prices vary, the list provides a range of prices rather than an absolute market price and is a true snapshot of what cybercriminals are illicitly buying and selling to carry out their fraud operations, both online and in the real world. Prices are in US dollars.

Among the findings given in the August online fraud report are: In September 2010, the RSA Anti-Fraud Command Center stopped and closed 339 online attacks in 685 countries; a 181% increase in the number of phishing attacks launched around the world during the month of July 21. This growth can be assigned an increase in the number of attacks launched against a handful of large companies; in July, phishing attacks targeted 217 global brands, nearly the same number as June. The number of trademarks attacked less than five times during the month of July was similar to that observed in June; the United States remains the country hosting the majority of phishing attacks, accounting for 61% of all attacks worldwide. The Top 10 countries most attacked in June maintain their position during July, seeing the share of attacks targeting them each increase between 0.5 to 3%. The Netherlands is the only one to have disappeared from the diagram, to be replaced by Brazil with 3% of phishing site hosting; The volume of phishing attacks sustained by the United States increased by 8% between June and July, representing 47% of all phishing attacks in July. July's newcomers are Australia, Brazil and the UAE. The latter re-enter the chart for the first time since November 2009; with the United States and the United Kingdom continuing their almost perpetual lead as the countries with the most attacked brands, most of the constituents of the June Top 10 remain in July in the top 10 places. France, New Zealand and Nigeria disappeared from the chart completely, while the Netherlands, Spain and the United Arab Emirates re-entered last month.
