Summary

As Europe was gradually split into two blocks at the end of the Second World War, the Americans and the British set up secret armies, networks called "Stay Behind", intended to react in the event of a Soviet invasion. But even as a Russian attack becomes unlikely, these networks will never be dismantled. They are even at the origin of acts of terrorism and responsible for the death of innocent civilians. Whenever the left threatened to gain power, they used force and intervened in national democratic processes. Sometimes they were protected by police forces and security services to preserve their fighting capacity.
