1600 dead and more than 15 million victims

Prime Minister appeals to the international community

We are forcing them to leave because their lives are at stake,” said the Minister of Irrigation of Sind, who noted that the water level along the Indus River which crosses the region is “exceptionally high”.

The rising waters did a lot of damage. The World Food Program estimates that 2,5 million people will need to benefit from food assistance in the next three months. There will pay aid of €1 million, divided between the victims and the humanitarian organisations. In a general context of shortage of food, drinking water and tents, humanitarian workers are also faced with difficulties of access to certain populations cut off from the world. Heavy rains hitting Pakistan have also caused flooding in India, killing at least 132 people and leaving hundreds missing in the northern state of Kashmir.
