$100 million embezzled, three hackers arrested

Three American and Swedish hackers allegedly embezzled $100 million through advertisements for fake security software. Part of the group Russian Business Network (RBN - RNB) decapitated? The publisher of solutions IT security McAfee has just warned ZATAZ.COM that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and the FBI have just got their hands on hackers who are fans of “Scareware”.

Scareware is this technique which consists of distributing, via official and high-traffic sites, advertisements promoting false security software or false virus infection alerts. See the example with the NewYork Times

Innovative Marketing Ukraine (IMU) was indicted by the US Federal Trade Commission in connection with a case of false error messages concerning virus infections, spyware and the presence of illegal pornography on computers users.

The information collected over a year, via TCP port 80 of the IMU servers, contained financial, technical and organizational details that may have enabled American authorities to arrest an American citizen living in Ukraine, a Swedish citizen based in Sweden as well as an American citizen residing in Ohio.

The investigation showed that the means used allowed them to embezzle 100 million dollars, placed in a bank in kyiv.
